Bachelors of Architecture 2012
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
My name is Andy Fini. I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Through my design studios and professional electives, I have become especially proficient in rendering and computer modeling, with rendering as one of my best skills. As part of my education, I participated in a semester-long study abroad program in Torino and Rome, Italy. I had the opportunity to study centuries of architectural masterpieces and styles of architecture as well as work with Italian architecture students in a parametric design-based workshop.
I am interested in creating architecture that affects one's mood, feelings, or behavior in the space. I would like to design spaces that create different emotional environments which allow architecture to be a form of art and expression, not just a building, creating atmospheres that range from wonder and amazement to calm and tranquility. I often focus on the design of interior spaces of the building, how they work together, and the interaction and juxtaposition of spaces in general. For my thesis project, I designed an adaptable system that generates various performance spaces, creating an immersive experience for the viewer. Through the use of this kit of parts system, multiple types of performance and entertainment spaces can be created, which in turn have the ability to morph and change.
